One of the biggest obstacles that keep away from doing what you love is the fear of not being able to make money with your passions.
But many people have found ways to monetize their passions, so you can follow their lead and do it too. I love to do it with these smart tips:
- Find a mentor or coaching. The finest skilled people in the world go find the right mentors and teachers. They are talented, but push their success forward with adequate and state-of-the-art mentoring. Find the mentors that suit both your personality and what you want to do with your life and career. They’ll guide you on the best path to be successfully making money with your passions.
- Have a back-up plan. Design your whole lifestyle with a back-plan in mind if anything happens. For example, if you decide to start as an entrepreneur, could you keep a foot in the door of your last career, such as working for them part-time, until you are ready to take-off on your own? Doing so will ensure you always have sufficient money to do what you love.
- Make the best of your time. Know when you’re most productive and use the time in the day when you are. Are you a morning or evening person? Do you work best in short bursts, like 30-minute periods throughout the day, or are you more inspired when you work long hours?
- Sell your passions. The key? Respond your way, with your skills, talents and zeal, to other’s needs. What is needed around you that you could greatly fulfill and sell as a product or service to make money with your passions?
- Live below your means. The clever way to have more money, save it and have it for other purposes to make more money is not to spend it. Dress a list where you spend most of your money in your life and with your passions. Keep quality items and services, but limit yourself to what you cannot go without. Use free or lower cost services whenever you can.
- Ditch credit. Try not to use credit to start your projects and eliminate slowly credit from your life if you haven’t done so already because it ties most of the time in a spiral of interests, eating your profits. Imagine, what could you do with money you save in interests over your lifetime? Switch for credit margins with lower interest rates instead of credit cards and regular loans.
- Enroll. To do what you love for a living, you have to start doing it! Simple, I know, but critical – you want to realize your dreams, right? Make a pact with yourself that from now on, you do what you love for life. And each day, keep at least an hour to advance the most urgent tasks, like being paid for what you do.
- Start a website. Make yourself present online with a regular website, a social page and/or a blog. Talk about your passion. Even if you don’t sell your products and services online, and this is a great asset you should focus on, customers will be able to find you easily. Making money with a website can be done with publicity or a web store for example. And talking about your passion will keep you going when you need it.
- Readjust. Consistently take feedback on what you do. Is a particular method not bringing you enough results? Find out how you can upgrade it or find an alternative. Staying alert will keep you on the right path, find solutions before a big problem arises and keep having money on a regular basis for your passions.
- Polish your strategy. Fine tune your project so you arrive to great results in an orderly manner, without shooting everywhere. Keep your target in mind, and find the shortest and fastest way to go there, without friction.
- Boost your results. Leverage your tasks. Find out which ones you could do that respond to other ones. For example, I’m writing this for an annex to my book Do What You Love!, a part of a free ebook and a blog post too. Also, price well what you offer, take advantage of price elasticity, that people are willing to pay more for quality products and services.
- Stay hungry. Feel the ardent fire for what you love and keep going for what is most important for you. When you feel not so good, reassess that it is what you want, find inspiration in success stories and your support system and readjust what you need now like getting some rest. But always, always, stay passionate and keep going – with that, you’ll have most chances to get where you want! Repetition and motivation are secrets to success, particularly to make money with your passions.
